Pecking Orders- Indian Runner Ducks

Indian Runner ducks establish a pecking order influenced by age, size, strength, and personality.

Typically, the largest male leads the group, guiding them in foraging and mating choices, and asserts his dominance through vocalizations and body language.

Among the females, a dominant hen often emerges, taking charge of nesting and organizing the group. Ducks lower in the hierarchy exhibit submission by lowering their heads or stepping aside to avoid conflict.

Our Indian Runner hens clearly have a pecking order, especially during feeding!
