Blessed To Be A Blessing Farms started our farm with day-old chicks from Meyer Hatchery, a trusted member of the National Poultry Plan (NPIP). Now our flocks lay fertilized eggs which we typically collect and place in our incubators. Our success rate for hatching is about 80%.However, if a hen goes broody, we let her sit on her eggs. Our success rate for natural hatching is low (about 40%). Temperatures for successful hatching is between 99.5 to 100° which we can easily achieve. When it comes to humidity, you'll generally want to aim for 50 to 70% . In our desert climate, our humidity rates are very low so it is difficult for our chicks to hatch. This year we have added over 25 chickens and turkeys to our flock with our breeding program.
